Thoreau

"However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse."
Henry David Thoreau

I ran across this quote today. I had cut it out some time ago and saved it. It always gives me a good perspective on life.

Did you post this to tell yourself to calm down a bit about your ruined New Orleans vacation?

Sorry that happened to you, Michael. I fear for New Orleans and her people. I have a feeling that things will never be the same there again and that the city may eventually simply have to be abandoned. I just hope you and scooby aren't losing all your money on the deal.

Probably, I did just by accident run across the quote yesterday and thought it fit my mood.
We haven't given up completely on going down there for Christmas, we're still discussing with the owners of the building. He put a freeze on people staying there because of FEMA staying there and a bit of ceiling water damage. He didn't realize that by putting a freeze on the timeshare that the T/S owners couldn't trade their week for another. Were waiting for a call back from him. My fingers are crossed.

I'm sure the government would like to abandon the city. The majority of the houses down there are built with cypress which is water and rot resistant. So flooding isn't as terrible as people would like to think. Places like the French Quarter didn't get flooded at all, because it sits on the rim off the bowl shaped city.
